Pilot readout: Apex Remodeling
Sample Lost-Estimate Pilot readout, shortened. Kitchen and bath remodeler, fictional.
What we'd fix first
- Call the Hendersons back this week. Their kitchen isn't lost — it's postponed to spring, and nobody has followed up.
- Quote faster and follow up. Apex takes about nine days to send a quote and rarely follows up — and two of the four homeowners we reached hired whoever got back to them first.
What the quote file shows
Before any calls, we read the estimates themselves. In the pilot this covers the 40 to 60 unsigned estimates you give us; here, a sample of what it looks like.
| Measure | Apex | What it suggests |
|---|---|---|
| Days from site visit to quote sent | 9 on average | Slow for most remodels — homeowners are hearing from others first |
| Follow-ups after sending a quote | 0 on 4 of 5 quotes | Quotes are going out and going silent |
| How quotes are sent | PDF by email | No way to know if they were opened |
| Where Apex's leads came from | Google, referrals | Referral quotes were the warmest |
What homeowners told us
A few rows from the interview table. In a real readout every homeowner who agreed to talk is listed, with names, addresses and amounts taken out of the quotes.
| Homeowner | Project | Apex's guess | What happened | In their words | How they found the winner |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Hendersons | Kitchen | Price | Postponed to spring | “We still want it. My husband changed jobs, so we waited.” | — |
| The Parks | Primary bath | Price | Hired a two-person shop | “They got back to us the same day. We waited a week for yours.” | Neighbor referral |
| The Alvarezes | Kitchen | Price | Hired a larger remodeler | “Honestly the price was close. They could start in three weeks.” | Google search |
| The Browns | Guest bath | Went cheaper | Decided not to do it | “Budget. We'll probably revisit it next year.” | — |
| The Nguyens | Kitchen | Price | Not reached | Three tries, no answer. We stopped. | — |
What it adds up to: In these rows Apex guessed price four times out of five. Homeowners mentioned price once, and only as "close." Speed came up twice. One job is still live, and the homeowners said yes to hearing from Apex, so it was passed on the same day.

The Lost-Estimate Pilot is $0 upfront and $500 for each signed contract within 90 days, or $997 flat. We work 40 to 60 of your unsigned estimates, interview every homeowner who will talk to us, pass live leads to you the same day, and write it up. It can come back saying your follow-up is fine.
